Just the other day I noticed a dust of some form rubbing off onto my fingers from the roof of my car. Can anyone tell me what this is? The car is white, so I am worried that it's the paint or something like that.

There should atleast be a clearcoat. Are you near any factories or raodworks? A quick test would be to use a dark polishing cloth and some cut, if cloth goes white your clear coat has gone which isnt good. If so have it sprayed before the colour is completely damaged which will cost more later as the color has to be removed also.
