For $17,500 you should pick up a nice AUII XR6 for not much more. Even an AUI XR8.

dont want a XR8... too thirsty :P

wanted a XR6 with manual, sunroof and preferably black in colour! not easy...

theres heaps of cheap xr6's on carsales.com.au... theres a blueprint series 3 for 18 grand even.. you should be able to get a well optioned series 1 for about that price. Even a vct one.

ok, found pics from a post in the V8 section here, as i said there's not real difference between II and III front bars, but the series III has got 2 extra spoiler bits on the bottem of the front bar, wouldn't be amazed if you can just bolt em up to a series II front bar, but it could be moulded to the front bar too, havn't taken a close look at one before, only in pics.

This pic is one of the AU II's with the 220 series 3 engine and front bar from factory, but you will have to scroll down a few posts (12-13 maybe):

AU2/3 fronts ARE identical. So are the backs. Only the series 1 has a different back and front.

Picture 1 is fitted with the havoc/c2r rear bar which was a factory option. Not only on series 3, the series 2 XR8 rebel had these standard along with bigger side skirts and front pods. Picture 2 is fitted with the tickford bodykit. This kit was an option from factory on series 2/3.

This is a series 2 xr in standard form:

Standard series 3:

they are exactly the same rear bar.
