how would i go about taking the lock off the drivers side door, so it only opens with the central locking, or alarm remote, would it make it any harder to break into.

it's a lot easier to smash a window that open one of these tibbie locks using something foreign.
your up s**t creek if your remotes battery runs out too... |

I wouldnt take it off, how will you get in if the battery on the fob goes flat! having an alarm will deter thieves anyways.

some peice of ford hating sh*t tried to break into it three times now, theyve popped the top off the lock, but they didnt get in (bloody amateurs). they didnt even think of busting the glass luckily, and also alarm was on but it didnt go off because its not hooked up to the handle

I dont normally carry both of my fobs when im out. I have been caught out once before when the fob didnt unlock the door, luckily i had my trusty key and lock.

have heard you can open the lock with half a squash ball. but the cars got immobiliser and alarm anyway

Is this purely for security of for looks 2?
If its just for security you could always just pull your door trim off and pull the bar off the lock....if you get what i mean. But if its for looks then you have to weld in another piece of steel if you remove the lock then file it back and spray it all....pain in the a***. If you have a boot lock you should do that 2

Did you actually see them trying to get into your car? Because those lock covers fall off on their own.

The plastic cover inside has been replaced by a fibreglass shield, which makes getting to the lock assy harder. The drivers door I did similar. In case of keyfob or car power failure, I have a hidden manual system to get in. This is the most important feature, as the lock cylinder would normally do this. For a sedan you could replace your boot lock cylinder with one from a wreckers (not connected of course), just as a dummy, so if it's screwdrivered, it's no big deal.

bloody cons have tried tobreak into my ef gli twice once in a parking lot which i cant prove and the second time in my driveway which i saw still havnt had it fixed
