I have noticed on several E-Series models from EB-EL the clear coat peels.
I figure the age of the car must be a factor & whether it's garaged or sits out in the elements can make the difference so anyone know why the clear starts to peel off?

Ive noticed it mostly happens on certain coloured cars, like all red cars fade, alot of the green eb/ed clear coats peel

certain colours are more prone to it.
Reef green's quite bad for it. but yeah, largely depends on how its looked after/stored

I've been washing my car every 2 or so weeks and polishing/waxing every 1 or 2 months and the paint might as well just have been newly sprayed
 Pretty sure all paint needs to stay good is not leave it out in the sun all the time without a good coat of wax atleast. |

The black pearl is another colour that peels badly. There is nothing you can do to fix it and was a noted poor prep issue from fors. However, you can't get it fixed by the factory as they are all way out of warranty.
Mine has peeled on all horizontal surfaces and no chance of a fix apart from a full respray. On the up side - no-one gives it a second glance as it looks like a heap(mechanicals are top notch though...). I have played with sanding and the likes and will just get it resprayed when I move back to Toowoomba. Hooroo |
