Can someone give me some ideas on maintaining the tonneau cover on my ute. I have always used Armourall on it but a panel beater acquaintance reckons that this dries it out and causes it to crack :? hasn't happened yet. He recommended using something like baby oil. Tried this and all it did was make the cover greasy....yuk!
Has anyone got any other ideas?

use a vinyl/rubber reviver on it ... have also seen a wax-based paste (rubs in like waxon paintwork).

Had a car wash place use this wax-based stuff on mine ... bloody hell ... it looked like new ... and stayed black for ages.

Normally mine is light grey/brown though.

No probs ... I have a spray on vinyl reviver ... but the tonneau really needs to be as clean as possible before applying it ... takes a while to do it properly to get a good even coat.

But I'll try and find out what the wax type one is ... comes with a sponge applicator ... and really soaks into the tonneau as well.

I use Export Tyre shine (those blue spray cans) cheap and quick to do. Spray on and wipe in - should only take you 10 - 15 mins. It's not as permanent as some of the wax appliers (not totally rain resistant), but it does bring the tonneau up quite good - without too much of those 'swirl circles'. Lasts for ages in dry weather.
