I am 17 and just about to buy my first car, EF fairmont and am wanting to put a set of BA XR8 wheels on it, But i have done some research and have found out that they have different offsets etc. I have heard on forums that you can get these things called "spaces"? I have tried researching but haven't been able to find all that much information...
Could you please help me if you know if it is possible to put a set of BA XR8 wheels on a EF Fairmont and how i would go about it?

Hey mate, yes you can get wheel spacers, two of my mates have them on their ef's.. something to think about but is that wheel spacers are illegal and there are limits as to how much you can alter the wheel track!

i had the same problem with my ed falcon wheel spacers are a great solution but they are illegal is some states of australia and being 17 u will get a hard time from the cops and they will defect u for anything

Buy copies to suit pre Au cars... You should find some on ebay.

just buy some copies. i have a set of au xr copies on mine and if you get decent quality ones they are good. no dangerous spacers

adding 35mm hub adapters wont alter the track either, if you have au/ba wheels, because the offset brings the wheels back into track again.
i have only heard of 1 hub adapter breaking and that was beacuse the guy bought some for a jap car. they had metric wheel studs and he used the falcon imperial nuts on them. there are plenty of race cars running hub adapters, some are big dollar cars too. a lot more stress is put through them on the track, drift,drag,circuit etc. they can be engineered and cleared for registration too i had them on my el for 3 years without any problems, it was my family car too, me wife and kids, i value my family and wouldnt put them at risk if they werent safe i also think that late model wheels remanufactured/copied and modified offset to suit e series cars are more likely to fail than hub adapters. i have seen ten times the amount of cracked chinese copy rims than adapters. |

Bit of a threadmine here but, has anyone seen or heard of spacers to change stud pattern, eg. Bolt onto the Falcon hub and have Commodore studs in them?

AFAIK current commodores have the same stud pattern and offest as the AU-> falcons anyway

I see no reason why you couldnt get hub adapters for the pre au falcons for newer commo rims. But not if they have the same offset. You would have to get a hub made up with a different stud pattern.

Any idea who in Aus makes em? Mines an EF so I'd need 30 - 35mm spacers to run them anyways. Looking at a set of VE GTS's

you can deffinately get them.
