Hey guys I have cosworth vents I want to put on my bonnet for the ED Ghia, What I need to know is where abouts to place them, I had read some threads earlier about pressures under the bonnet but still unsure where the best place is to put them.
I found this pic but to me looks like they are too close to the bump in the bonnet  Maybe its just the angle. I have an idea on how I want to stick them down, when cutting the hole I make a tab and bend it down to screw the vent to the bonnet with sika as well. So can anybody out there please help me. Where you put them is kinda dictated by why you want them...I assume you want to vent hot air out of the engine bay? (instead of fresh air in, which these won't do..) If thats what you want, then you want them behind the radiator / shroud top, 6 - 12 " back behind the shroud...the ones in the pik don't look like they'd do much, they are way out of the line of air coming out of the radiator - they'd work best much nearer the centre line of the bonnet. Do you have a bad overheating problem that makes you want to vent air out?
If, on the other hand, you just want to stick random vents on the bonnet, its totally up to you where you put them....but you'd have to wonder why....

I would like to vent hot air out, My engine bay does get pretty hot being an 8 it gets alot hotter than my 6, I want them to serve a purpose im not for random sh** on my cars

According to fiends tests, (granted they aren't on the same car, but should be similar) where the vents are placed on you pic, there woul be a positve pressure under the bonnet, so it should help heat to escape.

The vents would work as you have them placed due to the airflow effect over the bonnet. As the air flows over the vents, it draws air out of the engine compartment and cools the interior of the bay. Causes an area of low pressure. If they were turned around, it wouldn't benefit cooling and you will introduce water into the bay, potentially causing issues.

just out of curiosity, I would have thought the idea under an engine bay was for the air to escape under the car i.e hit the firewall and then flow down with the air passing under the car??? I am no expert but just thought this might have been the case. If so would it be best to place vents towards the back of the bonnet towards the windsreen side? I ask because I was thinking of venting my Ef's bonnet and was tossing up either a gt scoop ( stock placement directly above engine) or something that I could place towards the back of the bonnet.
Please correct me if I am wrong |

i think the problem with that is you have the air on top of the bonnet hitting the windscreen and coming back down to the bonnet creating a positive pressure on top.

Yeah I kind of like the idea of the gt scoop with a tickford lower body kit and not wing. The only thing that was stopping me was the idea that I had posted, now thats cleared up I think Ill stick with the vision I had of what I want. Thanks for clearing that up |

So where the vents are placed on the bonnet of the above picture, is where I should put them??
What are the specific measurements, if anybody knows? Before I go chopping up my bonnet. Cheers |

i personally would put them there, they dont look too bad there either, however as for correct measurements i wouldnt have a clue.

thats exactly where i had them on my ea, that spot is perfect fitment between the bonnet bracing so only the skin is cut...
