I have error code 52 (Intermittant or Repaired Low Battery Voltage) flashing. I'm guessing that's because I've put my new steering wheel on. As the system was without overnight, does this error code mean that the battery for the airbag went flat and when i've put the fuse and battery back on, it's realised that the airbag backup battery was flat? Also, how do i clear the code - the document shows which is the airbag memory clear, but do i just need to earth it to the body or earth it to a diagnostics earth pin?

Mine is doing this too. I had my airbag out for a few days when I fitted the new wheel and now it's flashing at me.

Airbags have a backup battery ?! That's news to me!

yeah, it's got a backup battery so incase of an accident and the wires get cut or the battery cannot power the system for whatever reason the airbag will still go off. that's why you need to leave it for at least 10 minutes before thinking about taking it out!!

i'm going to try earthing the pin to the body of the car tonight. that little light can get really annoying!! as all earth's go to the same place, i can't see how it would affect anything. all the doco seems to say is earth the pin, so i shall earth the pin and watch what happens!!

okay, let me know if the air bag goes off :)

Nah Im pretty sure its to earth, Bozz and Myself did a manual conversion on his car, and started without putting the air bag back in, Same thing, Flashing, Im pretty sure it was just connecting one of the pins to earth that re-set it .

For an Earth you can use the bottom left diagnosis connector pin, or just earth to the car chassis, doesn't really matter which one.
IIRC the EF/EL's have a bolt just above the left kickpanel that's a good earth, just the right size to put a small alligator clip on.

Be careful using the front doors as an earth point, they're not as good as you would expect.

The edge of the cigarette lighter socket is just there and has proven functionality too :)
