hey all how do i make a false floor for my au is it as simple as tracing round the origanal boot mat and cuting it out on mdf?also how do i glue the carpet to the mdf?

basicly, wrap the material around the edge of you board and staple it to the mdf

I just used silicon glue and made sure i smeared it out evenly and then applied the material on top.

I'm not sure about AUs, but the boot of my EL has the large shallow cavity and then the area where the spare tyre sits. I made a frame that fits in the cavity with a big enough gap for the spare tyre to come out. Got some thin MDF boards cut to fit the boot in all directions and screwed it onto the frame, to make it stronger I screwed another MDF board on the underside of the frame. Wrapped the whole thing in fabric.

Look at my pictures in the gallery...should have some pictures of my finished result.

Why would you guys want a false floor? Are you going to keep valuables in your car :P

It makes the boot a little neater IMO...even though I lose boot space, I like the neat look...and yes you can have storage spaces like I have...have tools for emergency kept in them and you can't see it :D.

for multiple amps!! ;)

i've got a false floor in mine and love it, neat as, amps are in a good spot, spare is easy to get to and i actually now have more useable boot space as the floor is flat
