So, this is a bit out of the ordinary from the usual Au leaks -I think-
We have a au2 xr6, just bought not long ago.
Went to a mates house and parked nose first in his driveway which is steep, p****d down alllll night and in the morning the drivers and drivers rear floors were soaked -over the carpet-
I pulled the rear seats out and the trim today, parked it down a hill and hosed the sucker, and found the leak. Not the usual boot seal leak but actually leaking between the steel where it has been spot welded, leaking down into the boot and into the cabin under the rear screen. No there is no rust.
Has anyone else had this issue.
If so did you silicone it or weld it? I plan to weld it but want opponions

I'll Defiantly seal it up.
I'll do it when I put the replacement sunroof in. Can't have the c$&t full of water, the damn foam under the carpet is the greatest sponge I've ever seen!!

It looks like it's quite easy too get to, would it be a better idea to weld it or silicone it?
I'm leaning towards welding it, simply because it's leaking down between 2 sheets and I don't think silicone will penetrate up into the gap.
And because sealant will likely attract moisture and start it rusting- but then if I weld it the weld would rust...
Hmmm

I would use something like sikaflex, I think you got more chance of it rusting after welding it ... the heat will burn away any coating on the steel even in the area you cant see..

Good point.
The leaks into the boot are easy to get too, just the one up under the parcel tray is a bit of a pain.
But you're right, sika is the best option, I'll just have to have to have a red hot go at it.
Thanks mate.
