The debate is actually still open on the need for a new dash harness.

My original harness only had the AUDIO-PREP option, and it had the Sunload connector on it. I'm pretty sure if you find a sunload connector on your harness you won't need to change it. But since I didn't have an XT harness to start with, I can't say with 100% certainty that it's in every loom.

The sunload connector is taped to the firewall, up behind the HVAC - and the only way I could get anywhere near it to see was with the dash out. So I'm afraid that probably doesn't help.

Maybe it's possible to see if the auto-lines are present on the steering-column connectors, but that would take a bit to figure out assuming you have the workshop manual...

HIM is the same across the board - same part number even from BA.BF,SX,XY. The Drivers Actuator plug is on all of them - smack bang in the middle. It's only the programming that changes them from Manual No A/C, Manual A/C, Auto Dual Zone.

The drivers actuator plug is a 4th plug. The main 3 are across the bottom, 4th is smack bang in the middle.

Lukeyson. Cheers for that and i'll have another look later. I was having a looksee at the door harness and i know i need a new one but i took a photo of the dash side.
image 1 Red wire plus orange / white stripe no pins on door side of plug
Image 2 Black wire plus green / yellow stripe no pins on door side
could this be for the temp sensor for mirror..

i am just trying to limit the fact of a new dash harness that all and by chance do you know where i could download a wiring schmatic from?

Take a look at the actual mirror plug. Normal mirrors have a smaller 3-pin connector, mirrors with temp sensor (std or memory mirros) have a 5-pin connector.

As for the dash, the temp sensor isn't listed as a loom option, so i reckon it's in all dash looms. I don't have proof though.

And as for some schematics - you won't find diagrams that tell you what's in each loom which is a PITA. But I do know where you can find a BA workshop manual at the moment.

It had the connector, but no sensor.

Well, as of today and thanks to Dave (xpression) for doing by far most of the work my climate control is in.

Despite a few hiccups at first the climate is working 100%. Unfortunately the autolights refuse to work (every other function on the stalk works and the sunload sensor is fine, probably a dodgy multifunction switch) and my ICC appears to have had a bit of abuse :( - the screen has a few scratches which I'm not fussed about, but it refuses to play CD's properly. Yesterday it played a CD fine for eight minutes or so then spat it out.. ever since then I can load a CD but it tries to read it then spits it out after five seconds or so.

Also, the lack of a clock is already irritating me :) I'm considering emailing ASL to see what they can do with the ICC in regards to the CD stacker and perhaps any firmware changes that enable a clock.

Just to throw a bit more information out there:
kjoy064 - I reckon you could get away without auto headlights - mine arn't working but the climate control is fine. Also my original dash loom (from a low series Mark 1 BA) did not have a connector for the sunload sensor.

Heres another one too - the mobile phone wiring has no power, either the 12v line or ignition 12v line.

Apart from that, the new ICC looks much better (especially at night), the dual zone is fun toy to play with and even the new indicator stalk is nicer to use :)
