hey guys, i'm going to do this mod to my EL, but i dont reckon blue would show up too well with the orange needles - white would be better. will the white show up in comparison to the standard incandescent yellow?

I found that using small NEON's worked much better than any LED modification i had seen. They provide a much better spread of light without any dark spots and only take 15min to fit.

Ok quick rundown.

Materials List
4 x 100mm mini cold cathode neons (Jaycar) with seperate invertors

- Remove daqsh surround and remove instrument cluster
- Remove all esixting globes from instrument cluster
- Remove needles (speedo, taco, oil pressure etc...)
- Remove the printed gauge background
- You can now see the motor's that drive these needles behind a plastic cover
- Remove the scres and plastic cover
- Place neon's evenly inbetween motors (use bluetak)
- Wrap the invertors in electrical tape (as the back has exposed connections) and use doubble sided tape to hold them to the bottom edge of the cluster, there is plenty of space for upto 6 or maybe 7 starters
- Connect neon's to starters
- Run power and earth out the back of the cluster through the original globe holes
- Place plastic cover on and speedo/taco backing and test for consistency and spread
- Move neons as needed to get a consistant spread then silcone in place
- Re-assemble

All up if you have the parts it should take 30min...
