I was swapping a woodgrain radio surround with a mate yesterday when I found the following differences..

His car is an EL and the one I had to swap was off a EF from memory..

This one has 2 screw holes for mounting...

and from the back near the cigarette lighter..

And this one only has one...

And a pop stud holds it behind the cigarette lighter..

As you can see one has a recessed cigarette lighter provision and the other is more flush..


Its mostly curiosity as ill make it fit, but any ideas on what the differences are about?

Also the wood grain is like a plastic sticker glued to the plain grey surround, and it dosnt have felt inside the pocket under the radio hole.. The other one dose.

I noticed this when my first ef Fairmont had a broken stezza surround and I accidentally bought the el gli one for it.

I just had a look too and one has 95Da as the part number, I cant see the other number cos its tucked under a lip and half hidden...

The RH press mount screws out with a spanner IIRC. So you you can swap it around.

the one with 2 screw holes is a series 1 ef, the ashtray lid covers the lighter, series 2 changed to one screw and the clip thing with an exposed lighter
