hey, i want to change the insert on my door trim (the insert next to the handle on the inside on fairmonts) does this come off or is it stuck on.

im pretty sure it seperates from the door trim. not sure how its attached maybe clipped on

First you have to take off the entire door interior by undoing all the screws around it, take off the door lever etc. then when its off turn it around and you will see that the trim insert is attatched with large pins. Just bend them out and the trim pulls off. You mite wanna use a pair of pliers for this.
