Hi all,

I'm looking for a couple of quick questions about E series sunroofs.

I have the chance to get a full roof chop from the same model LTD as mine (DC)

Now what i want to know is, will my LTD have the brackets for the cassette already in place from the factory? I know BenJ has done this mod and had to have brackets made up, but his car was a wagon which wouldn't have been a factory option?

I'm assuming that since it was a factory option on the XR's/LTD's, it will have the brackets already there to hold the cassette?

Obviously i will need the have the roof cut to suit the sunroof, but if i have to go pissing about with brackets, i don't think I'll bother. I just want to bolt in, get hole cut, etc etc.

No E series Falcon, Fairmont, Fairlane or LTD had Factory fitted sunroofs. All fitted a dealers. Your car will not have any brackets fitted for you to fit to. The sunroof is basicaly glued to the roof and the small brackets hold it in place. If you need more info please ask.

Bugger. That just killed my plan. Don't really want to go messing around with it if it doesn't just bolt into place.

Still might get it to stick in the shed for 10 years, who knows!

It isn't too hard to fit one. You have to remove the bolted & glued in roof brace, lift the sunroof cassette into the roof & bolt it in with brackets, and glue the roof skin on the top of the sunroof cassette. Brackets are not hard to make up, but if you removed it from the same type of vehicle as it's getting installed into, you will have the brackets you require!

Soon I'm going to use my parts car for a test fit of my sunroof, see exactly how it goes in. I removed it from the donor car, so i can't imagine it will be too hard to fit it, but a test fit in a roof skin that i will be throwing away later isn't a bad thing....

Cheers
