hey all,

ive got an 89 fairmont ghia with the digital dash. i recently had the car jacked up, and since then, the speedo and odometre have stopped working.

This sound like a classic ghia dash malfunction or could it be the speed sensor unit in the gearbox have been knocked around?

thanks

Lynx

Did you jack up the car around the trans, could have knocked out the plug for the speedo gear?

plug was still in. tested all the wiring over the weekend, suspect the sensor is FUBAR. Need to get a new one.

Yeah id say your on the money try changing the sensor, the dash's themself rarely f**k up... I had a ea ghia dash from the wrecker with 447,000km on it once and it worked perfectly...

mines currently got around that much on it as well. Checked with coventry's and for today on a new one, price was between 45 - 60 bucks.

changed the speed sensor, not a smidge difference, all the wiring has been tested between the sensor and dash, so its somewhere in the cluster. grrrrrrrrrr

If you can get hold of another dash, plug it in and test.

Hmm, I have one sitting here you could try/have but post would probably not make it worth it, I haven't tested it either.

all done running a low series cluster, ill have to get an aftermarket tacho. Used the Tech Doco on here, however the pins were numbered wrong for the second half of the plugs,(eg on the 12 pin plug 7 had to go to 12, 8 to 11, 9 to 10 etc etc etc).

Now to fix a f**k head.
