Hey guys,

I am in the process of fitting the entire interior, engine, complete loom, and diff out of an EF fairmont into my non smartlock EBII.

As i am using the entire loom, i will be using th EF's steering lock/ign barrell assembly, So my question is...

Will the EF steer lock/barrel assembly bolt straight onto the EBII column?

A search revealed that no one really knows/has done this??

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,
Andrew.

Not sure, I dont even know if the indicator assembly/steering column surround off of an EF/EL fits... but I think it may, thats why I got one from the wreckers :)

Yeah i thought the indicator stalks setup should fit, if not it'll be close, and easy enough to mod to fit, but i don't know about the lock.

Any one done this?

The very first of the EBII's did not have smartlock...

I think after September 92, all had smartlock. Before that, nothing!

I'm well aware of that - I helped Benj with some of the wiring detail. The indicator setup is not a direct swap.
Benj's method may be a better option to strip the wiring for the extras, and add them to the existing loom, and bypass smartlock.

Im sure you can put an EF barrel in an EB , they are held in place by snap-off bolts you can see them after you have pulled the cowling off i think they are a goldy colour and the best way to undo them is with a pin punch and a hammer... had to change one when working as an auto elecy but its pretty easy.

LOL, no they didn't, SEP 92 on, but thanks.

I also thought BENJ was using all the EB gear on his column, but i will read his thread again and check.

If it doesn't fit, i guess i can wire my colunm loom into the EF loom, and bypass the smartlock.

Thanks for the help guys

Andrew.

yeh im running EL locks and barrels in my EA found that you need to use a smartlock cradle as i couldnt get my EA cradle to accept the barrel and key for some reason.

using genuine locks not aftermarket items
