Just servicing son-in-law's EF Futura.
After ignition off & key removed for a short while - doors lock themselves.
Is this normal for these things or do I go looking for gremlins?

Richie.

It's normal. Is set to lock itself in certain circumstances (ie - you pull the key out and shut the door and don't do anything to the car for a few minutes.

I had to smash a window to get back in mine as I was late for work one day.

Have heard of some cars starting to lock themselves within seconds - which results in many fustrating minutes spent breaking back in to your own car. ;)

I think the mid series BEM (Futura) is particularly good like that.

Just be thankful that they didn't wire in a "windows up" command at the same time - leave the window down a bit and you'll never get locked out.

The high series BEM I had didn't do this, but had been opened and d**k with to have an aftermarket alarm and all...'

Thanx for that.

No worries - Just checked the High Series BEM I put into the Futurlane and found it does try to lock the car after 2 minutes...
