Just lever those clips off with a flatblade. Hot airgun the speaker grille mounts, also there's a big assed rivet around there somewhere too IIRC.

The rivet is the hardest bit. I think it is one of the speaker grille fastenings.

yeah i saw what ya mean  .. ended up repairing original after i pulled it apart. the small clips were easy to get off & the larger were a pain. trims broke/split where it flexed on all four

Done a few passenger side ones like in the pic - the speaker grille usually goes brittle over time (drivers doesn't), and replacing the upper section with the EL snipper delete. I think from memory I dremel that rivet off.

Just as well they aren't BA/BF ones - everything's heat welded together. :(

i ended up using a small flat screwdriver to break the edges off the speaker studs/clips. then used soldering iron to 'melt' some more onto/into speaker studs/clips. i made the mistake of doing the bottom speaker ones not the top.

yeah .. have a BF drivers to repair re handle...................

With a bit of practice you can plastic weld with a soldering iron.
Gunna need it with the BA/BF door trims.

i have fiberglassed the door handle things back on from the inside of the trim, kinda messy but cant see it. recommenced taping up all the cracks to the outside of the trim where possible to avoid drips down that face that leak through

lol ... pulled the door trim of the drivers door on the white BF .... someone had used some sort of glue/bonding agent to try & keep the top section of the armrest/handle solid mounted!. yeah all the outer trims will be coming off & replaced with ones prob off one of the EL's ? .. the 'foam' in the doglegs has to be removed so i can see what damage there is there. hopefully not to much

ohh .. does anyone know what the 'nuts' for the EF/EL fairmonts etc are called, if still available? how were they fitted or did you use something else???. have to mod my EB doors & will be using the EL doors as a template.

Cheers

Those aluminium scrivets for the armrest mounts?
They need a special crimper - very hard to crimp otherwise.
They can get loose over time, making it hard to remove the mounting screw, as they start to rotate too.
IIRC I used plastic trim inserts, like the inside door handle mount. There are ones with
a square base, file out the sheetmetal to suit, press in. And they never rotate with the screw

The scrivets are covered here: ford-technical-document-power-window-conversion-d21 down the bottom.

If the plastic insert is a snug fit(not super tight), the screw will expand it when done up.
