i am just wanting to know if a EF/EL Steering wheel will fit into an ED and if yes has any one ever stuck one in an ED and wired the cruse control up up to the EF buttons? Also can you stick EF/EL Cluster into EDs? yes i know that they have different plugs in the back, I am talking about changing the plugs etc... all i want to know is it passable to do (will it work properly and fit in the dash?)

The answer is yes.
Go buy a complete EF/EL steering shaft and whatever wheel you want. Unbolt and unplug the old steering shaft and fit in the new one. Don't forget to swap the ign barrel over from the ED into the EF/EL ignition block. I think the rest is just plug and play.

If you swap in the whole column, you'll need to f**k around with the intermediate shaft that goes to the rack, they are different.
However you can seperate them near the bottom of the column inside the car, and swap them there. To put a cluster in, there is some wiring needed, and you also need to be running an EF/EL engine/ecu to make the cluster work. Have a read of BENJ's thread in the garage. He shows how to make an adapter loom, but you still need the engine and ecu to run it properly.

PIMP_LTD is correct. To make the EF/EL cluster work correctly you need to be running an EL ECU as the cluster needs the DATA line.
The cluster also does not fit straight in and you will need to fabricate an adapter loom as well as mounting brackets. I have done what you are proposing, however, I am running an EL ECU and EL Engine and would not have considered the cluster conversion if I still had the EB setup. I am not sure why you would want to put the ugly airbag EF/EL steering wheel in, but each to their own I guess. Cheers BenJ

As I said, "go buy a complete steering shaft". The splines on the steering rack are the same between all the E-series models. Mounts on the steering column upper outer are "basically" the same and will fit. Where it mounts on the floor/firewall beside the pedals, are bolts not self tapping screws. The holes will need opening up to the bolt size (not much larger than screw size). Holes are in the same position.

ok so without EF/EL Engine and ECU cluster a no go, and i more or less need to replace the entire steering column. and i rather a EF/EL steering wheel over the ED one
