I thought it was sort of like a mixture of small amounts of chemicals which produces a whole lot of gases to fill the bag rapidly...maybe that's the explosives then hahaha. phong =P~ I am sure the chemicals used are some what toxic if pro longed to it. Also was reading airbags are only supposed to deploy on front or a minutly diagional crash other crashs other then that the airbag is made not to deploy.

I believe it beeps at you if you do that, but you could always shove a bit of tape over the dash, mine had that for it's roadworthy 
Also I don't know if you'll get a decent fitting hornpad, yes i believe some of the early xh's which were based on ef's didn't have them, but i believe they used the xg wheel, correct me if I'm wrong.

couldnt you just replace the airbag and just dont plug it in??
as for the globe just paint the globe black put it back in and presto...lol |

Correct, the air bags are only deployed if the SRS computer thinks they'll be helpful. There a few inputs into this. The air bag system on B series is more complicated, with two stage air bags, seat sensors (determine if someone is in the seat and if so how heavy they are, to determine if a half and full deployment is best), side sensors (and side air bags).

An XHII non airbag wheel cover looks exactly like an EF/EL unit - but it does have a 'longreach' badge though.Probably easier to get a deployed item, cut away the airbag, and rerivet/bolt the cover back into position. Ford airbag systems are non servicable and don't require any testing or maintenance throughout their life. Beemers and Mercs are about the only servicable ones out there, and require regular tests and checks. Besides, there would be no testing on earth that could ensure this kind of deployment doesn't happen. |

i put a leather steering wheel on about 2-3 years ago.. but no nothing recently been done to it or the electrics of the car before it went off.. and nope there was never anything amiss with the airbag light before it happened.. i was out on the highway sitting on about 100kays nothing hit the car and there wasnt even a pothole in the road. Its been into the local ford dealer and they told me nothing and charged me 60 bucks for there trouble.. not sure what to do now, apparently to pass rego the light has to come on for a certain amount of time.

The car determined, that the airbags either wouldn't have helped or would've made things worse. (or of course it was faulty)
They'll only go off if the car thinks they'll help.

hey can anyone tell me how to get the airbag module with the safing sensor in it out? i can only see one bolt in it and i've got that out and its unpluged but i cant get it out still.. is there more bolts i cant see?
