Will a Green BCM (Fairmont) work in place of a Blue BCM (Falcon). Read conflicting statements, some say alot of rewiring to be done but the plugs are identical so...

i fitted an el fairmont green bcm to my el futura which had the blue one, straight swap.
but u need to add the fairmont headlight switch with the variable dimmer and also need to remove a resistor in the cluster so the odometer light works
then of course reprogram the bcm to the car,(leave the ign on for 1/2 hour) and reprogram your keyless remotes

its on the back of the circuit board, bottom left, the big one below the cruise and economy lights.
grab your soldering iron heat up the solder and remove it, easy enough.

Not sure what the deal is but with green bcm and fairmont light switch I can't get dash lights to go when headlights on, had to use gli headlight switch and leave that resistor in place with green bcm for it all to work ok.

that resistor is dropping the power too much for the dash lights to work with the fairmont headlight switch.

Would a solid wire work?
