Damn, it never is that easy. So those wires run from the trip computer to the... Dash cluster? Or ecu?

As the document says run a wire from the instrument cluster for the data line, and i found unused brown and blue/red wires that werent connected to anything just near the demistor switch for illumination.

Thats right now i remember i went to the wreckers and grabbed a clock plug, (cut the wires about 5-10cm away to give yourself something to work with later) and pulled it apart to get the spare pins, then just dissasembled my clock plug, added the extra pins then soldered the relevent wires to the relevent pins and done nice and neat.
