hi guys can you tell me how you open the tailgate from the inside of my elwagon that is fully lined with carpet cheers

I'm assuming you can't get it open from the outside so I went and had a look at mine. And it's not looking good I'm afraid, even if you could remove the interior lining with the door closed ( you can't without destroying it, there are several mounting screws hidden with it closed ) the door itself is double skinned and there is no way to reach the linkages to operate the lock.
I'm not sure if it's possible to remove the numberplate garnish from the outside, but that might be worth exploring. Good Luck with this.

i just used a screwdriver to push the lever over the lock on the latch
