Just wanting to find out where the problem lies on my BA Xr6 ute.

Everytime I click my indicator stalk to left, the headlights blink off for a second.
When I hold the indicator stalk to the left until it stops, the headlights will stay turned off.
Is this a problem with the indicator stalk or another problem entirely?

Cheers

Sounds like its the indicator stalk assembly or more to the point the wiring that comes out of it is too tight and over time with the action of the indicator breaks the wires and produces some electical problems. So in short I beleive that is your best bet. I had the same related thing happen with a ba ute and a sx territory.

Thanks for your reply Jeremy.

Is the wiring fixable? or better off getting a new assembly (and where???)

Cheers

Normally the wires break right on the end of the stalk (tube that carries the wires from the light switches on the end) and dont leave you much wire to play with for repairs. I'm not saying in your case its not possible to repair the wires but if you had the time for the car to be off the road while you assessed the situation (Lets face most of us use the car every day and having the car off the road for a day or so just see if its repairable, would be a pain.) then it might be worth the time to have a go and if it doesnt work out still have time to source a new unit and fit it. If it were me i'd buy the new one pull the old 1 out on the weekend and see how it looks. If its repairable fix it and sell the new 1 on Ebay.

Good Luck :)
