my heater in my fairmont does not get very warm,

-heater tap is opening,
-climate control self test ok,
-engine temp ok

but air out of vents or ducts does not get very warm at all when turned up to 32*c even with low fan speeds.

just had a AU headgasket fitted which had the front 2 water jackets coverd up maybe this could be effecting the flow into the heater core?

How are you determining that the heater tap is opening? The reason I ask is mine was opening fully when viewing the actuator on the outside however it wasn't fully open when viewed inside. I had to bend the lever that connects to the actuator to get the heater tap to fully open.

I also flushed out the heater core with a combiantion of compressed air and water.

After that the air temp comming out of the vents was over 50deg.

i watched the heater tap and i could see it fully open and close .it only got changed at the start of this year along with the heater hoses. you can move the heater tap by hand also its easy to push in and out.

Mine also was a new one, the stroke on the actuator was opening fully but inside the tap was still half closed. Bending the lever slightly fixed so it now opens fully. The only way you are going to know for sure is to remove the tap and look through it. The tap is normally fully open without vacuum.

With the tap out, take the opportunity to flush out the heater core.
