Hi all, this is my first post and my first Ford so I need some help and am admittedly not the knowledgeable at all. I am hopping you guys could help me find the items I am looking to get to make my second hand car feel new again! As everyone else, I don't have an endless supply of cash so am happy to go with cheaper brands or places if possible. (I'm in Brisbane if that matters).

I need/want...

-New dash interior (as in the silver plastic around the stereo, air-con controls etc)
-New Gear stick/knob (I have the tiptronic auto and the plastic on the knob is bubbling probably due to heat or something). I wouldn't mind keeping it an auto but have thing that leather and chrome manual look to the gear stick if you know what I mean? Anyway, I need a new one of them somehow.
-Drivers window winds up slow as with some squeaks so not sure what I need there
-Would LOVE an XR or FPV dash cluster thingy as the standard looks boring as hell
-Places to buy body kits?
-Those ugly black plastic bumber things down the sides of the cars (half way up the doors) can they be replaced by chrome ones and if so where can I find them?
- new front grill (bit between bonnet and front bumper as the one there now had a crack and was glued up, looks ok now but I want a new one anyway) where can I look at getting one?

Guys I'm sorry for the long post (and this is my first) but I would really appreciate any help as I think this car is beautiful and already prefer it over all the rice I have driven in the past 13 years.

G'day mate, and welcome to Fordmods.

First off, Ebay is one of your best friends for this sort of stuff

All that fancy fascia stuff, look no further. This joint custom makes it all, and in a colour of your choice! Only problem, slightly more expensive (but probably still cheaper than buying genuine from Ford). http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BA-BF-XR6-XR ... 35bbcaaabb

Gear Knob 4 Speed AUTO $76 brand new, why not? - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-BA-B ... 43a705d935
Another one. With chrome. Looks nice as - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Chrome-gear- ... 2ebf43e81a

XR6 / FPV Cluster (depending on how many KM's your car has done. You want a cluster that is close to your current KM's) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-BA-XR6- ... 231ee9c53e

Bodykits are not cheap, if you want ones that fit properly. Or you can buy genuine, again are not cheap. Expect a minimum of around $800 for a full kit in fibreglass. Except double, even triple that for Plastic with all the extra bits. I suggest http://www.ssv.com.au Their prices are a little more expensive, but they fit with very little issues, plus they supply all the mesh, lights, inserts etc.

The molds that run along the door trimmings, I'm not 100% sure on whether you can get chrome replacements for those (try searching for Fairmont Ghia parts, and see?). If by last resort, you can simply liquid chrome them? or just paint.

Front grill. If you get a bodykit, this will not be an issue as it will be replaced. But here's one anyway. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon- ... 35bbe0c617
*NOTE* This is for XT / Fairmont. Not for XR6 / XR8. If you need XR6 variant, just search 'BA XR6 Upper Grill' eg - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon- ... 3cc3d116cc

I'll add some extra stuff here for you, that you may think of doing

Leather covers (not just the slip on ones, these are proper covers that clip onto the seat itself so they sit flush). - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/260879632299 ... 1438.l2649

Interior Lights - All the colours you could possibly want in your Falcon - http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from ... terior+LED

Sports Pedals - Auto Pedals http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FPV-BA- ... 43b0de11b3
- Manual Pedals http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FPV-BA- ... 43b0c7c454

Like many things for your car, 90% of it can be found for a good price on Ebay. This has also given me many ideas for my falcon, which is fantastic :D

you, sire, are a legend. I dont suppose you can point me in the direction of detailed guides on FULL Brake Fluid, Tranny Fluid and Oil changes could you? I'm a visual learner so anything with video or pictures is perfect lol. I got the Service Manual but it's crap and I wanted to make sure I do it all right first time and I know that each car differs from another so the EL vid on youtube is of little to no use to me and I cant find one for a BA falcon anywhere :(

Also SSV are daylight robbery prices :( 2200 for a reasonably standard kit is a bit out of my price range and makes little sense to me when I could get a kit for my old RX8, RX7 or skyline for half of that! Even the kit for my Wife's Mercedes cost me less! Buying piece by piece was even more costly with a front bar averaging 550 and a rear around the same or higher depending on your exhaust setup. Then factoring in rear wing and bonnet just blew my mind.

Why is it so hard to find a reasonably nice looking kit (that doesn't just make your car look like another xr6 turbo) for a reasonable price?

The car itself is great, it drives well, handles well, fits the mrs and kids in perfectly and is a genuine pleasure to drive, but the cost to do anything remotely non-standard far outweighs the pro's and it is starting to make me consider a swap for another rice burner.

So, if Anyone out there is thinking of selling an FG GT kit for a BA XTII sedan or a BF Typhoon kit let me know coz I cant and wont be able to or want to buy from SSV at those prices :(

Yeah I totally understand what you mean mate. The reason why SSV is so expensive though, is that they fit up straight away, and come with all the mesh, inserts, lights - everything. Where as mine for eg, I bought off ebay for $750 for front, rear and sides. I didn't get mesh, lights or anything like that. Did get the foglight surrounds, but they need to be glued in professionally. So the money you spend by getting the proper fitting kit, you save when it comes time to fit to your car as mine cost over a grand to be fitted, as it needed a bit of adjusting to make it sit flush. Plus then, you have to paint it. It's an expensive project, but well worth it if you have the money.

In regards to Brake Fluid, Transmission Oil change, I can't really help you.

Engine Oil is simple really. Buy the correct Ryco filter, an oil filter remover and about 7 litres of Oil that you want to run *if you're going to change to a different oil type, be sure to get a run in oil also*. Undo the oil cap on top of the engine. Then simply jack the front of the car up, slide a catch can under the engine. Undo the Sump Bolt (from memory it faces towards the back of the car, and is an 18mm?), and be careful as oil may still be hot (i suggest wearing latex gloves so you don't get oil all over your hands, that way you can still hold onto the bolt). Let all the oil drain from the sump and then refit the sump bolt. Then locate your oil filter, which sits on the left hand side of the engine, up and in. Quite tricky to get too. Simply wrap the filter remover around it, then turn anti clockwise until it comes free then undo by hand. Be sure when removing the filter, to hold it upright, and have the catch can ready as oil will come from where the filter was just sitting. Empty the filter into the can, and put it aside. Get your new filter, and apply a thin layer of the new oil around the O-Ring with a cloth. Fit new filter, and tighten under it's firm, not death grip lol slide out from under the car, get your new oil, and pour in about 3 litres of oil. start the car after about a minute, and then continue to add more oil until you reach the Full level on your dipstick (which should be around 6-7 litres of all). But add oil gradually, just incase this is different as this is all going from memory. The exact amount of oil needed can be found in a BA-BF Ford Falcon Maintenance Manual - $20 from SuperCrap.
