hi

today i found that my heater core has died and my heater box is filling up with coolant.
so i decided to remove the dash and change the heater box .
i have got the whole dash out but my question is how many bolts/nuts hold the heater box in place..
from what i can see the nuts are in the engine bay and seem rather hard to get to..

has anyone changed the heater box before and can anyone shed some light on how it comes out...

on the up side my dash top had some ugly cracks in it so now i am going to replace that aswell..

Pull the dash out completely...it is easily done when the steering wheel is off and centre console with all seats out. Once you removed the dash board completely you can now remove the bolts from the engine bay. I think there are 5 or 6 bolts that hold it in. I think there is one bolt jammed between the engine and firewall...the b**ch of the bolts. use a spanner I guess to get that one out.

Once you have removed all of them get a mallet or use something flat to push the screws through. that way you don't hurt your hand...it does take an effort to budge...so lots of elbow grease.

if it still doesn't budge there may be more bolts or screws in the cabin...i can't remember how i removed mine when i destroyed the EA...sorry

phong =P~

yea phongus is right theres 5 bolts securing that sucker in, also remove the plenum chamber its got 2 retaining clips, its the box attached to it on the right, take the heater box cover off and can access the core from there. If ya goin 2 remove the whole box ya got to disconnect all hoses goin to the engine bay at not forgettin to drain ya coolin system first, also vacuum line to check valve and the wiring plug to the resistor. Also im not sure on it but u might have to dump ya gas from ya A/C if u have one.
