you can use any size that will fit - best bet would be to take one of the globe holders out and go by that. i did mine way too long ago, but i left my warning lights as they were, i just did the backlighting. IIRC i used 5mm LEDs...

5 mm LED is what i used also.
Try this guy on ebay i got all my stuff from him.
