Hi Guys, Just wondering the legalities of fitting late model eg BA seats into XE Falcon in Victoria?

I've found many posts regarding how to do it but I haven't found the posts which advises how to keep it Roadworthy and fit for Insurance.

Any help would be appreciated and apologies if this post already exists.

I was under the impression that you can use later model seats in a vehicle as long as they are mounted securely without sacrificing the structual integrity of the vehicle.
To be 100% certain I'd check with Vicroads first.

You won't get any heat from cops during a stop, I had monza seats in and no troubles, but by the letter of the law (Victoria) you can only use a seat that was an option by the manufacturer when the car built.

Something like that that has to do with safety in a crash has to be ticked off but i have to agree with MikGan ive never been hassled for seats, and thats having 2003 seats in a in a 1972 ute.
But i dont make a d**k of myself on the road so only get pulled over at a breatho.. plus im 45 they hassle younger people with a lot of bling on their cars.
Hell as long as theyve been fitted right later model seats have to be better, remember the 2 door Falcon seats of the 70's fckn death chairs.

In there it says this:
Quote:
In cases where the replacement seat is not one offered as an option by the vehicle manufacturer and the vehicle was manufactured on or after 1 January 1969 a VASS approval certificate showing continued compliance with the applicable ADRs will be required.

Here's a link to a list of VicRoads approved signatories.

Basically it's gotta be signed off by one of the engineers in the document above saying that it's safe enough for use.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I guess I was hoping that someone had went to the trouble of doing it properly and could give over some advice.

I will make some calls and pass on the results.
