my 91 nc's climate control system has the crappy grey buttons which dont match the rest of the cars trim, so i went to the local wreck got myself a black system from a 93 fairmont changed it over and reset it. no errors came up but the fan is running when the system is off and the fan wont increase with the temp. so swapped it back to the original system everything works normally again. anyone got any idea's on whats happening to the updated system? :?: :?: :?:

Ive heard that before. Even know they look similar they have different revisions or something and you need the same as what you had.

Yeah, NCII and III usually have the black buttoned units whice are different to the rest. I have a unit out of an NC which is incompatible with mine sitting here with the black buttons so i know.

Correct me if im wrong but i think it was the early ebII's that had the compatible CC unit's with black buttons.

The difference is in the fan speed controller. Somewhere after 6/92 (EB II) they changed the way it worked. You should be able to use the 93 CC unit, but you will have to wire in the Fan speed controller as well.

I was caught out with this as well - when trying to get a new fan speed controller.
