i was reading up on the instrument cluster install ea-ed mid series. my mate has a ed falcon, we installed a mid series cluster into his gli the tacho worked from word go without running any wires from the coil. The oil guage needs the sender changed and the volts worked aswell, could it just be ed falcons wiring loom is more complete then earlier models, has this happened to anyone else, i know i wont be this lucky

the low and mid series are straight swap in EB2-ED with the addition of the oil sender, the high series cluster from EA-EB1 require extra wiring

the earlier cluster can be fitted to later car with the addition of the smart lock light just by drilling the PCB to accept it at the back, the front lower display for warning lights must also be changed but you dont have to you just wont see the smart lock light flash
