Hi all,

Anyone know how to remove the hella high mount stop light holder from the parcel shelf in the EF/EL sedans...I know there are 2 clips that you can get easy access to from the boot...but even with the clips released she doesnt seem to want to budge ... any clue as to why ?

Reason for replacing is the EF/EL XRs came with the holder but not the reflector inside or globe..however all the wirings there.

Now having an aftermarket wing that unlike the factory EF XR one doesnt contain a high mounted stop/tail light - I have to install one to comply with current ADR requirements...cheers

If you need a spare working one, I've got one you can have for free if you wanna pay postage. PM me if you'd like it.

Picked up one today...may end up grabbing that one off you at some stage if i break this one lol ... will see how we go getting the old one out...as the origninal one fitted to mine doesnt contain the inner reflector they have it all moulded up internally so one cant be installed into it either lol

the spoiler does obstruct it, but the spoiler has one...so thats covers it?

What i was getting at before was whether ornot he may have been like me where an aftermarket rear spoiler has been fitted that doesnt contain an installed stop light.

Mine sits slightly higher than the factory wing so the parcel shelf light is visible from behind the car but will have to see as the car is lowered they may whinge about only cars round the same height will clearly see it...im hoping whoever inspects the car is either rushed and passes me quickly on that factor or knows and chooses not notice it :P

Have loads more to get done on the car for engineering tho :( before she goes anywhere near the pits - cant believe how busy the inspection joints are over here in WA its a joke

Should be able to slide the lens and reflector in, and it will clip in place.
A lens and reflector from a wagon unit will fit too, just tape over the bulb hole, that's not needed.

YOU MUST have at least 1 high and two lower stop lights...to pass a road worthy
Be interesting to see what the ADR's specify for the utes and panelvans - only high mount stoplights I've seen are fitted to canopies.

hehe finally got round to fitting this -- popped the old one out this morning...there are 2x tine lil clips also underneath that bed into a small elevated section that you cant access from the boot.

Good old flat head screwdriver...insert underneath and twist :)

Cheers for the help guys.
