As per title, is it possible lads? I'm going to mask up the dash on Monday, but I want to take out the air vents on the sides so I can do them individually. Is it possible, and how?

Yep, definitely possible. Just gently prise them out with a screw driver. Try not to do it in the middle of the sides though as they are reasonably easy to crack.

Once you prise it out a little (say 1cm or so) then just gently pull it out with your hands.

Once you've done it once, it's really easy to do - I recently fixed all my broken air vents while sitting at the traffic lights a few times on my trip to work one morning.

Hey also, will the bottom half of the dash come apart from the top? I was outside 10 minutes just then and took a heap of screws from the passenger lower section of the dash. It came loose a bit, but still no ball. Any trick, or it's not possible?

It definately looks two piece.

Mother s**t, o well, I can still mask up. Just hope the paint gets into the tiny gaps between the top and bottom sections.

Woot done. Is the Fairmont badge just stuck there?

Only issue now is pulling the stuff in the fuse box away from the dash so I spray down there and separating the glovebox so it can be sprayed.

Haha, no mate, it's going to be a satin black + cappa interior for a while. Then one day the seats will be retrimmed, and the door inserts that you can see are cappa atm.

I think i might try having a cappa Fairmont dash insert for the Fairmont badge there. Might make a nice contrast on the satin black, and match the seats and door trims. I never really thought the woodgrain looked good on that part.

The answer is the dash is in 2 pieces BUT screwed together FROM THE BACK as I found out when I had my dash out to install climate control and high series loom and BEM :D :D

Ahhh, well that would explain it then, thanks GTBob. I'll be masking the car up tomorrow, then spray paint the dash. Wonder how many cans it'll take, lol.
