Hello people,

Can someone offer a working solution to a problem?

I have recently replaced the Roof's Dome light from festoon incandescent to a blueish LED.

I have noticed this LED light remains on and will not switch off when I'm driving, day or night, especially when driving at night for some 4 hours.

The switch controlling this light is on the instrument panel with the switched placed in the off position, in theory power should not be going to it until switched on.

Do I need to place a resistor on one of the dome light terminals?

I have checked the polarity of this LED and it's installed correctly.

The only time this LED goes off is when I locked the car with the remote for the night, it takes some time for the LED to dim and stay off.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Cheers, Peter

maybe check your door switches are working. if they are really worn they might not be turning the light off even if the door is closed.

Thanks thomas 123,

I have an AUII, are these door switches the same as the door hatch lock?

I don't know but I doubt it would be part of the door latch. Open the door and have a look for a little push button, probably near the hinge at the front (not on the door itself but on the door frame). If you find one and push it the light should go off.

Someone with an AU will probably be more helpful.

Thomas123,

I had searched everywhere , there is no light switch controlling the dome light on any part of the door sill.

I have found the switch controlling the dome light is built into the headlight switch, there is a slider button.

I spoke to Ford this morning, it was sugegsted the light switch might be faulty as voltage / current is continual and the LED light should have dimmed from very bright to low when using the switch.

Mutlimeter is needed to check if any voltage drop is noticed when using switch. If not, replace switch, if other then will need to place a resistor between power and earth circult.

Bump

Well, I have a glitch but dont know who is telling porkies or the truth.

Went to Ford, they reckon I might have a faulty light switch, maybe possible, checked the switch and power connections, all good.

Went to Autobarn Upgrade team Auto electrics), they informed me I have the wrong type of LED on the Roof (Dome), they suggest I obtain a Canbus LED. Apparently the car's computer cannot sense or read the Roof (Dome) LED and therefore allows it to run without switching off when one closes the door. The LED light should go off within 1 minute of closing the door and should immediately switch off or switch off within 1 minute when locking the door .

Can someone enlighten me please as to which would be the correct scenario?

Thanks, Peter
