hi

fitted a new smartlock module to the ed fairmont and the learning instructions seemed to have worked
(put key in on until locks cycle then turn to start well as the fairmonts got no engine just held the key in the start and let it go back to on.

but when you push the boot button 3 times it doesnt go into learn mode for programming remotes .

also why would the smartlock light flash when the key is in the on position?? Need a new ign switch?? Plug the ecu back in?? to compete the smartlock

Push the rear demister switch 3 times not the boot button. As for the light being on with the key in the ignition I can't help with that.

yes, press the boot button 3 times to set the remotes in eb/ed..
otherwise to teach the smartlock to recognise the ignition you need to have all accesories of with the door shut and ignition on for aproxx 20-30 mins, best to have your window down incase of malfunction.. and its kind of pointless trying to set the smartlock up properly due to the car having no engine??

How do you press the boot button if you have a wagon? Due to that I still say it's the rear demister button. Give it a try you have nothing to lose.

to the op, when you train the remote the ignition needs to be on accessories

I thought it was the demister button on early e series too?

I thought it was boot button on the later stuff?

Cheers,
Tim

so you are in the car with all doors closed properly...

key on accy

press the demister/boot button three times in rapid succession and doors will not lock?

The barrel pairing and the remote pairing are two completely separate things... You can do one of either or both... They are not interconnected... Just because one works doesn't mean the other will...

Usually when smartlock jewel blinks it means its having issues talking to the barrel... Be it a barrel issue or smartlock module issue...

Cheers...

you tried both "accy" and "on" barrel positions? Though I'm fairly sure its accy...

If no go I'd be trying the module in a different car... Maybe it has failed... ???
