yer needs to be service by ford for teh spanner to go away.. :(

all you guys are jealous u dont own an AU

and greg i have a REAL xr not a faker

doesn't even need to goto a dealer... its just exactly 8 seconds and let go
or exactly 12 seconds and let go i cant remember which

With the car completely off, press in the tripmeter reset button and hold it in. Then turn the ignition key to ON. Don't turn all the way to START, just to ON. After a few seconds you should hear a beep or 3 and the spanner should disappear.

To remove the service spanner on a AU is very similar to removing the spanner on a EF EL falcon.I dont know exactly how the prcedure goes but have the ignition turned off and at the same time turn the ignition on and depress the trip button and then release as soon as the dash lights up or something.I do reset them at work but dont really remember what sequence. But you dont have use a special so called tool to remove it.Really AU ones are a real pain to reset.Thats why most people trade them in when they come on.LOL.No just have a play round with it,just remember its a very similar procedure to the ef el reseting.

On my brothers AU ute I just held in the trip reset button then turned the key to on and it went away just like the EF/ELs do.

So your suggesting Ford are forcing owners to service their cars only at a Ford dealership! I'm sure the ACCC would have looked into that by now.

Cheers GTBob - works a treat for a '98 EL Fairmont (it still does need a service though  )
