Can the Smartlock central locking system be configured so when you unlock your doors, the driver's door opens first, then you can open the others door - similar system used on Commodores and Camrys?

not sure about older models, but in the ba's it can, to program it all u have to do is hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the keypad until your blinkers flash, and it should program it like 1 press = drivers door second press = all passenger doors, thats how i got mine configured..
do your keypads even have an unlock and lock button, or is it just one button... |

one button only - but dads cougar hs one button -push to lock. push to unlock drivers door, then push to unlock other door.

as i am unsure about the E/N series your best bet is to wring ford, like one of their service centers, all there numbers are in the phone book, under ford,

Unfortunately, the E series actuators are synchronised, if one was slower than the rest, or one is operated, the others will follow. If you tried to modify this routine, I'd say you'd create cycling problems.

like the older ones don't have this issue anyway.. My old NA would go nuts out of the blue.. my "new" ef XR6 doesn't do it though

my mates old VT did this. It also seemed to have double door locks. I.e. we'd lock it with the button box, then if you pressed it again, or put the key in the door and locked it agai (can't remember which), you could hear a second set of locks locking. Queer. Was an excop car we were told (although we couldn't see any signs of this - aside from an old Nokia car kit), he just got it dirt cheap at the auctions.

Nah thats a new feature in the VT's and later, called deadlocking. It is a seperate locking mechanism, and if the manual for the work's VZ is right, can only be unlocked using the remote - ie. inside or key won't work.
