Hello,

I have noticed that my oil pressure gauge wasnt working correctly, it was always on the max. In my experience this usually means that the sender is broken and is not grounded or something along those lines.

So after replacing the sender, I noticed that it was still up all the way to "7". Additionally to this, my temperature gauge seems to be wrong (I have another thread out regarding engine temperature)

What I am wondering is, what do the standard clusters look like?

I am starting to think that someone may have fitted one from perhaps a 6cylinder fairmont or something...

Cheers

The cluster will however be marked with what model it's for.

The XR clusters have a tickford logo on the speedo. Other than that they look like a mid series (Fairmont/monty ghia) one. The only diff is internally, for the lighting (the XR ones have a diode installed, where the monty ones do not as they have variable lighting brightness.

My car must be getting stranger by the minute.

It's listed in the ECU (brother put it on the scanner at work) as being an XR8 ex pursuit car, yet does not have Tickford logo on the instruments?

For 6 and 8 clusters being the same, are all the senders and such the same?

The instrumentation readings should be the same if you put an 8 or a 6 cluster in?

Not all XR clusters have the Tickford Wings.
Heres a pic of the correct cluster that should be in your 'ex pursuit car'

XR clusters look identical minus the 2km increments, If you want that pic, you'll have to wait as I haven't one beside me.

Senders are the same for Fairmont, Police, XR and High Series.

Over the years of getting police clusters, I have never found any with tickford wings on the facia.

You should also have 'OPT20' on your compliance plate to confirm its a police pack.

I hope this helps.
