:D
Having recently acquired an XR interior for my Fairmont, I'm struck with the dilemma of what to do with the holes in the door trims that the window winders went in.
Rears aren't such a biggy, I'll probably just fashion something that sits in the hole for the 'leccy window switchs to sit in.
But what about the fronts?
I wish I hadn't already drilled holes in my top dash bit, or I'd mount tweeters in there...
Only ideas so far are
a) Cleaning up the hole with unused tweeter mounts, and telling people they are ports for my front speakers.
b) A badge of some sort?
c) Just a grey plastic plug, probably a plastic interior screw thing.

Any ideas?

Try down at the local engravers. You might be able to get a little badge, and have something engraved into it. Or you could screw the winders to the original position just for laughs. Or stick an XR badge over it, lots of choices!

Is there any reason you cant pull the material out of the new door trims and put it into your original ones? So you have the original door trims with no holes, and they match your seats...

Why not remove the door inserts from the XR door trims, remove the inserts from the Fairmont door trims and then put the XR inserts onto the velour Fairmont door trims? That will solve the problem. If you look at the back of the door trims you will see some metal tabs that can be straightened out to remove the inserts.

Yeah.
The whole trim is different, not just an insert.
Hard to explain.
Fairmont is all velour furry s**t, XR is plasticcy vinyl stuff, with a cloth trim around the handle.
edit: thought about that a bit more :P
That is an option I guess, dunno what it would look like though.
It would be three different material colours...

i was wrong, those door inserts won't fit on Fairmont door trims. They look a lot smaller and there the wrong shape

what i did when i put elec windows in my ED was to keep the two rectangles that i cut out of the trim for the ashtray/cig/switch assembly, and cut it into 4 circles that covered up the holes, not the best looking soloution but does the job.

my au had a rip in the door trim and dad took it to a plastic welder and they fixed it. You can't even tell where it was. Perhaps they could somehow fill the holes and match the plastic over them?
