installed gas to 2004 ba xr6 11/07, very good experience so far, dealer install needed some fine tuning after 3 months, much better since, had 2 coils replaced $300 almost straight away as gas put 130,000km coils under pressure, and others will probably go within 20-30k, got investment back in 7 months now running at approx 45% of old cost, based on mix of hwy and city running, local gas cost 64c, petrol now $1.65, using about 14 litres per 10km, or 10c per km, fuel cost would now be $22c per km, I would say only worth exercise if travelling minimum of 30,000km per annum, also replaced 130,00km spark plugs, and one gas installer suggested opening standard plug gap by extra 2 mm, car running very well, good acceleration, suggest that for normal driving BA will convert very well, yes run on petrol to keep everyting working, but does start from cold and run on petrol for about 1 km anyway, installed Parnell system, sg. :roll:

Now I'm about to buy a 2001 AU wagon, that for a change will be registered (at first) for private use (existing car for business use, no govt rebate allowed), I'm still trying to make up my mind.

What I don't understand is that 'km before money saving kicks in' field.

Based on 15000km yr:
Cash saved per yr - $1602
Adjusted price of installation (out of my pocket after rebate)- $1000
Time to offset installation cost - 0.6 yrs.

that all makes sense, but if it takes .6 years to offset my out of pocket costs, then why are the 'klm before money savings kick in' at 28090, which is nearly 2 years driving. I would have thought I would be saving money the first time I fill up after that 0.6yrs that its taken to offset the installation cost. I know its after midnight so maybe I need sleep, but what am I missing?

the KMs haven't been updated to account for the rebate I think.... originally there was no rebate, and the spreadsheet dates from this time. I added in the money calc for the rebate much later, but must have forgotten about the kms.

$110 to fill, 500km to a tank around town

2008 EGAS LPG XL Utility

$55-$60 to fill, 550-600km to a tank around town (90L tank)

which is basically half the running cost, and MORE range.

I worked out that running gas for the past ten years and driving about 400,000klm I have saved about $30,000

Just did a run in my old EL on gas (now my brother's) Went from Canberra to inner North Sydney and back. Did just on 600km, averaged 12L/100km and cost 8c/km.
Factory Vialle gas and 300,000 kms on the engine.
Sat on 110-120km on the highway and probably 1.5hrs in city traffic total.

We purchased a new BA Series 1 Station Wagon, in May 2004, as soon as the warrenty ran out we put Gas on her.
Dual Fuel for Holidays, as myself and missus still enjoy the great Australian road trip, when on Annual leave.
It cut our fuel costs in half....

But you know what.....we traded her in for a second hand mint condition BA GT with only 51000 ks on the Clock.

Now we run a 5.4 litre V8 with SS cold air induction, pace maker headers and a D&T Sports exhaust.

xxxx the cost of the petrol.... and the Holidays is a whole lot more fun.

GT means Grand Tourer...not, Garage Terminated, gathering dust during the Holidays !
