Heya guys,
I've currently got a Sprint Gas converter which was installed on my NL in 2004.. It's kinda had it and further finds suggest its actually for a 4 or 6 cyl, probably explains why I can't rev the engine past 3k as it surges or starves for gas... Plus when cold I always get a wif of gas through the cabin... I've seen a OMVL R90E converter on eBay. Are most LPG fits like this apart from the direct injection the same? The older systems come in two basic types 1: Positive feed [Mixer Ring].2: Negative Feed [Diaphragm carby style]. The good news Sprint gas usually are positive feed & so is an OMVL. But it not a straight bolt up & as such you are not supposed to play on the high pressure side of gas [it can and does EXPLODE] Buy it by all means but have it fitted by a licensed gas fitter, better to be sure than DEAD. I understand. I believe the converter fitted to my NL now is the same as on ebay... the seller reckons it'll be fine for a 5.0l V8... but i'm having issues with it as far as "overtaking" is concerned as the engine surges or starves for fuel.. it's like the engine is not getting enough gas
  Whereas on petrol, it has this stutter on acceleration or even idle and then I rev the engine... and if I plant it quick the engine backfires slightly.. I think it might be the leads... it has these strange stainless steel ones or something!?

its been on the car around 3 years or so, but being a carb'd 351 nobody knows how to set them up anymore. Goes well but does run out of gas at around 4800+ rpm, and moreso on cold days.
I did spend a lot of time getting the mixer height converter settings right, also using a WBo2 to determine mixtures, but im going to take it all off and go gas injection in the next few months. |

Oh wow... how much will that cost? And interesting that u cant get anything past 4800prm!? I can't past 2800-3000rpm.. it just surges.... maybe its just stuffed i have had it lpg system serviced and it does run better but... maybe ripping out this system and installing an injection system is the way to go... but probably no rebate advantage...

i can get past 4800 rpm, it will wind out to 6200 on a good day, but if the ambient temp is cold, it will tend to run out at 4800rpm. Its also a lot worse in 1st and 2nd gear which to me indicates a tank feed problem when theres more g-force, but its a daily driver so im not all that concerned about it.
Im looking at doing the injection system for around 1200, thats parts only though. |

Also change the spark plugs & gap them a little tighter too. Use good plugs like NGK that are rated for LPG use. Cheers ToranaGuy

Can someone take a picture of the id label on there gas mixer ,OMVL R90E sticker for me please and post it up so i can copy the spec label please as mine has fell off and gone.
