my 96 ef keeps backfiring when lightly accelerating etc, has fairly new leads and plugs, only been doing it since a "mechanic" I know put some light up thing between 1st cylinder lead and plus to show how it lights up, any ideas what it could be?

Maybe the spark plug lead isn't pushed on properly?
