I have a question about the brass thing in the intake snorkel, similar to this

(Sorry for stealing this image Peaandham, was reading your build thread and was reminded of it)

Does it matter where in the intake this is located, does it have to be in the snorkel?
I ask this because i am wanting to modify my stock intake but i am unsure how to get around this little problem

Yea its the balance pipe and i dont think it matters where it goes, i have seen someone place it on the front of their guard but thats just asking for bugs to fly into it.

The balance pipes on the ED Ghia i'm wrecking are screwed into the side of the airbox, so air passes the filter before it goes into them. I have no idea if this way is a good idea or not, but that is how it's done....

Cheers
