I don't know what to think of it. It will depend on who Stone Bros sign up to drive the Pirtek Ford. I hope it don't go to s**t!

Nothing better than beating a Yank at his own game. AKA Darren Bennett being the best kicker in NFL etc, etc. I reckon it would be awesome to see Ambrose kicking Yanky butts in NASCAR.Though its all fricken tactics and team orders in NASCAR so I am not sure how he is going to go with it. Its all down to being consistent all the time as they have about fricken 50 races a year. :D

Ambrose if we are lucky may even return to V8's in the long run if all doesn't go well. He is locked into a 2 year training course with nascars but hey...heres hoping he'll return after some years trying a new path :D

Wasnt the contract he signed for ford, not stone brothers? He will still be driving a ford.

Correct.

It'll be sad to see him leave the V8's, but I don't mind the Nascar series, it'll be great to have an aussie to go for!
Actually....Incorrect. He has a contract with Ford till then end of 09 and a seperate contract with the Stones which is till the end of 06. Stones have agreed to release him a year early. Very sad to see him leave oz but with Lowndes with a 1 year contract with 888.....who knows.

I cannot possibly understand why someone would leave an exciting intresting form of road racing to go and race around in circles in a death trap vehicle. And to make it worse, he wants to do it with americans!!!
If he's that stupid then good riddance to bad rubbish.

BAH!! rubbish. NASCAR racing is one of the best domestic categories of motorsport on the planet. Period. 40 cars, 200mph, rubbing bumpers and not a single computer onboard the car. Makes our little holden/ford skirmishes look like the kiddies pool. Oval racing rocks and they have a few tracks as well.

He's either gonna be racin in the busch/nextel sedans or (hopefully) the craftsman truck series. All of em kick a**!

Boogity boogity boogity.

Did Ambrose make some comments near the end of last season that he was planning to not leave and stay in V8 Supercars?

It is a sad day but good luck to him. The only logical sense is for craig lowndes to move to the pirtek falcon now and the game is still on

he's an awesome racer no doubt about it, he's one of my idles i say. as much as i hate the fact he's leaving i'm all for him furthering his career,(which he couldn't do in europe earlier in life due to lack of financial support) as long as he grabs a third crown i'll be happy

Does anyone know which class he will be running in. The SBR website mentions the nextel cup which is the big leage. Thier busch series is like our V8 lights (our aus nascars used to run under busch class rules, till bob jane and calder shut them down, and we even had a usa/aus match race in japan abour 5 years ago). Their Nextel cup is the old winston cup, Similar to our V8 supercars and their craftsmen series is like our V8 brutes. If Ambrose is in the nextell cup and wins a few races there then he will be a legend like Earnheard snr, Waltrip, the labonte bro's, Jarret and Jarret, the bodines and the entire petty family. All legends in their own right. One thing that every racer in every class throughout the world would love to do in their lifetime would be to race at bathurst. And Ambrse can brag to them about it all day long. Be interesting for promo purposes to see what a Nascar can actually do around bathurst. It would be a very slippery ride.
