Sounds like Bernie might be trying to blackmail them into a nightime race...not sure...seems no one is interested in the Aussie GP.

Apparently it hasn't been profitable for years and is only getting worse.

Can't believe there probably won't be a race here after 2010...don;t know if enough has/is being done here by the Australian people in charge to keep the event.

Once it's gone, iI doubt it will ever return...:thumbdn:

the popularity of F1 in aus is going down
the cars are so uneven it aint funny,
F1 is boring, same as moto gp and the superbikes
F1 is riduclousy expensive and waste of $$$

let it go i say and get more V8 rounds in

a 20 round championship would really mix it up here in aus

I went to the A1GP today. $60 for general addmission. Not sure how much F1 is but i do think it is a little more then $60.
They need to bring the price down more for motorsports. It costs to much.

shnoza, i believe F1 is about $60 as well. I remember my first time at the F1 was great, so were the couple of years to follow. The last 2 years have been boring somewhat compared to ones prior. They were enjoyable back then but I think everyone is moving away from F1 due to the predictability of races...maybe the retirement of Schumacher lost many fans.

ill still be there
I follow the F1 something fierce and it would be a shame to loose it.
Its great being in the city when they are practising and you hear the f1 Whine!

I have had free tickets the lats couple of years so not sure how much they cost - but i would still pay to go

I go on practice days and qualifying - i prefer to watch the race at home and have a bbq on teh sunday

Quick question. Does the A1GP engines sound similar to the F1? A1GP sounds like a motorbike with no exhuast when down shifting... As F1's on tv sounds like a high pitch.

F1 have a very high pitch. They rev the s**t out of them ,reaching up to 16000RPM. Their sound at full throttle are ear piercing, I used to be able to stand it, but over time my ears start to hurt so ear plugs are required. They do sound similar to motorbikes, but much louder.

Though I stil like the sound and rumble of the V8s.

your kidding aren't you!!

i can understand f1 being not everyone's cup of tea but to say the motogp is boring.... sheesh. did you even see any of it last year. easily the best form of motorsport on the planet at the moment.

nicko - i'm with you mate. love the f1. even set the alarm for 3am for the canadian, us and brazilian gp's. unfortunately i've never been to one. looks like i've only got 2 more years to get my act together.

some teams reportedly were breaching 20500rpm in previous years before the tougher engine regs came in. Phongy, 16? your only playing with it at that speed

When I used to live in richmond, I use to be able to hear the f1 engines from my backard. And TV doesn't do it any justice, when your actually watching them in real life, they scream louder than anything you've ever heard and as they pass and change gear, you can hear then exhaust going BANG BANG BANG really loud. Its nirvana. I hope it doesn't go. I know the majority of Victoria dont really care much for it and think its a waste of money, but in all honesty, i'd rather my tax money go to the f1's rather than a lot of other s**t the government spends money on like dole bludgers and the indigenous. Well before anyone makes their minds up, they should actually go first. Atmosphere is great, walking around, nice scenery, beer everywhere. Oh, and the f-18 flyover is fkn kick a** too!!

Thats the only disapointment about the A1GP, No f-18. Only WW2 style planes spining around.
So basiclly the f1's rev more but give the same sound but lounder. mmmmm i think i need to book myself a ticket to melbourne.
