Ford have reversed their decision to drop the local i6 engine and replace it with the US Cyclone V6.

Ford are going to sink 21 Million Dollars into the Geelong engine plant to qualify the i6 Engine for Euro Emissions

EDIT - actually, it might not be the i6.... noted "developing an engine that would meet Australia's first European emissions standards. "

They didn't say they'd keep the existing one. How much does it cost to develop an engine these days?
