How many pounds is it running stock? I've heard 4psi getting thrown around. Surely a 6psi tune would still be considered safe. And even then I'm sure harrop or someone would design a w2a intercooler for them.
What are people winding up their supercharged V6 commodore engines up to without coolers? 10-12psi?

sure, but then its not 'just' a pulley upgrade :P
and sure as hell won't be cheap.

the supercharged V6 motors probably run lower compression then the coyote, completely different ballgame.

I'm sure there will be some movement without a cooler, but its all speculation until someone does it.

Its not all about compression and boost. Too many other variables these days. At uni we ran a 12:1 compression engine with 12-15psi boost with a tiny A2A cooler and it never ever pinged. Combustion chamber design is where its at these days. And I believe coyote is far enough ahead of the old technology that many tuners will have to rethink their strategies in terms of limiting factors.

A few weeks ago i had a little chat with a bloke named Rob, he said he already had a cooler kit designed and ready for sale.

And so the fun shall begin.

So Herrod had access to them pretty much before anyone else?

Yep, has a real good relationship with Harrop.

Harrop have a cooler for one as well.

Brett

Shame FPV took so long, and cut some corners* with this.

And to those that think HSV are worried, why? All they have to do is tick the LS9 (6.2L charged) box on their next order form from the GM catalogue.

This is where Ford/FPV are hurting themselves, why go to the effort/expense on developing their own engines, when Ford US / Ford Racing can and do do this all the time. It's also locking Australia out of the gigantic US after market.

/rant over.

I'll just be heading out with my friend Kenne.

Finally, rant aside, good on FPV for getting the balls to do something like this. Let's hope they don't sit on their hands for then next 8 years.

* non-intercooled, and same old same old wheels - heck they're the same wheels my GT-P came out with 4+ years ago. And they were undersized then.

I always think it's funny that everyone always wants a coupe but when Ford actually made them XM - XP and XA,B,C they didn't really set the world on fire with sales, OK they are popular now, but, they only made the Cobra's to get rid of the last 500 shells they couldn't unload! no wonder Ford aren't keen on it.

So did anyone actually look at the fpv website today for the launch?

Nothing we didn't already know really. Except for the intake system. I can already see the coyote intake mod on an E series taking off big time.
