So what stupid ideas/concepts/setups have people seen car manufacturers do?

My girlfriends 2003 Hyundai Accent when ever you turn the fan on the airconditioner automatically comes on. So if you have the heater on, turn the car off, when you start the car again the airconditioner and heater will be running, very anoiying that it automatically turns on all the time. And slugs the car down a lot considering it's an auto 4 cylinder!
The doors also automatically relock, which drives me nanas when I'm putting stuff in and out...

Second would be having the light switch on the indicator stalk - I find this on a lot of Asian cars (Hyundais and Dawoos), I think the recent Falcons have it to? Anyway I often manage to turn the lights off when indicating to turn at night.

ALOT of cars do that, and it is the worst f**k thing EVER.
My sisters KJ laser does it, mums Mazda SP23...
I sometimes like to slap the keys in and start the car as I'm getting in. With those I don't because the beep drives me nuts!

Bosses Dawoo Lanos does that tooo...

Alsoo with automatic hyundais and dawoos they seem to lock the shifter unless the brake is applied. I understand the safist point of view but often anoiys me.

Mum's excel won't start without your foot on the clutch, even if it's in neutral.
Mate's old school 323 you push the lever down on the left of the steering wheel to turn the lights on.
ford america releasing the pinto knowing that impact from the rear would seal the doors shut and rupture the fuel line, effectively locking the occupants inside as a fender bender burns them alive. <look it up, ford decided the legal costs of payign out the families would be less than the cost of fixing all the cars already made>
first gear in our BTR 4 speeds.

that'll do for now.

Hmmm.. My Ford escape suffers a lot of these.

Stupid SeatBelt Warning alarms.
Stupid Keys in Ignition Alarms.
Stupid Locking of the Shifter

Now of course, I can do some silly 100 step thing to program the BEM to stop the seatbelt warning.

I can cut just one wire, and the nasty beeping when the key is in the ignition and the door is open will stop (mind you - pretty smart - only when the drivers door is opened)

Now for the shifter.... Yeah. Got a flat battery once - couldnt start car, couldnt shift it for the 10 mins it took to find the damn release...

My Nissan Maxima Auto would not go into Top overdrive till the engine had warmed up.
To save the auto, real dumb as it rev's higher when not in top gear O/D.
They also put the eng ECU inside right under the heater matrix, which tuned out to be very prone to leaking and kiling your ECU, mine got soaked but still worked after a few eng hiccups for a few KMs. :(

From the roof? What happen in a side impact when the roof caves up?

My mate missus bought one one for that reason. Some bloke tried to drag her out of her car years ago at a set of lights so it's a god send to her.
