I read somethign today that Skaife recently drove the worlds fastest ute an HSV VZ Maloo, broke the record at 297. I thought those BA Raptors were ment to be out to break the 300km/h?

I though his speed was 271.0? An average time of 2 runs in opposite directions within an hour of each other, as required to set a speed record. Pevious record was held by the Dodge Ram at 249 or something.

Yeah did see this on tv. Don't really know how this worked cos I woulda thought there was faster utes out there :? Maybe it only realated to models that were released in certain numbers or something. Sorta like the Touring cars in the 80's

yeh, its stock production ute..

however, they mentioned a motec to measure the top speed? IIRC.

I do wonder how far the tornado ute would go. (if it isnt speed limited)

Yes they were meant to crack the triple ton but the project somehow got mysteriously canned. All this talk and then nothing. The car is probably permanently sitting in the autotek showrrom with the burnout ute, never to be started again.

Even with 2.7:1 diff gears tassones ute will break into wheelspin on the salt regardless of his road speed. Would be interesting to see though. Better aero and it should crack 300 easy and still remain stable.
